Labor of Love
A downloadable Visual Novel for Windows, macOS, and Linux
A struggling writer gets swept up in a long overdue vacation with his wolf, only to finally have inspiration strike. Terrified of losing it, he might go a step too far in pursuit of his labor of love.
Developed as a submission for the 2023 MAY WOLF Game Jam. The story is SFW, though there are some suggestive themes and scenarios. Reading time is close to 2 hours.
Created by Rainy Midwest Studios, a collaborative group for making visual novels started by Jackson_MW and Petrichor.
The base sprite for Benny was generously provided by Cody as part of the Game Jam.

THE PLATINUM SNEP AWARDS
I've noticed that that there were some patterns during the jam that I decided to mark with these little awards just for fun. They're not meant to be taken very seriously.
Also initially these were supposed to be part of the review I left in the rating system, but Itch.io did not like that at all.
Top 5 May Wolves 🌟– Easily one of my favs, and fav slice of life.
Divorce simulator 🏛 – Second only to Facade.
Daytime Dreading fever 😨 – Half of the games that have this award are slice of life, half are horror. Awarded for making me dread what will happen next at moments.
Unique art 🎨 – The only game to redo the sprites provided by Cody. Awarded to any VN which has a custom sprite or illustration.
Kids and their gosh darn phones 📱 – Awarded to any VN with the phone UI visible. I loved the Big Ben contact, the only thing that would make it better was if Xavier made his pic an actual photo of the clock tower lmao.
Pencil on fire gif🔥✍️🔥– Jackson's keyboard must be on fire, he was cooking so hard when writing this.
Blocks... made for building things... made for obstructing things... Elk, a good choice! Interesting sprite edit! Ad- that show! Hrm... too bad no image of this fine cervine... skipped over because of the Jam, but would have been nice to have had details of their day's events as they are doing them! If it wasn't for the JAM this could be a somewhat interesting 7 day linear story, or in fact you could make the story within a real VN! Perhaps... Relationships, its all about communication! When you go down a rabbit hole, you are tunnel visioned and no longer aware of your surroundings. That had to be one of the best endings, though that is bias on happy(ish) endings.
Loved every second of it, wanted to grab the MC and scream at him half of them too.
Plis do more stories! :D
